How I Went From Unkown To Expert In My Industry
I was at a conference in Dallas, TX. The speaker was Howard Berg “The World’s Fastest Reader.” Howard shared with the group he had been on 1,100 TV shows. 

Howard had been on all the big name shows. During a break, I asked Howard how he got on so many shows? He said he just reached out to them. Well, if you are a Guinness Book of World Records holder I guess that gives you some credibility. Some would have stopped there. I didn't. Then Howard shared this little secret that changed my life... 

Howard told me he has written books. He said media companies (TV, Radio, Magazines, and Newspapers) like to have authors on as guests. He said fewer than 1% of people ever write a book. The media companies use “being an author” as a screening criteria for booking guests. The lights came on! Being an author is the shortcut to instant credibility. 

Even though I was fairly certain I would never be a world record holder, becoming an author is something I could do. 

Long story short, with some coaching, within 6 months I had my first book. 

Here’s what being an author did for me… 

My first book "Dental Websites Demystified." I wanted to offer my services to the dental market. What I didn't know is the dental industry is one of the most competitive niches to break into. I used my book as a lead generator at dental conferences. We used the book to help built a list. I used the book as a door opener when reaching out to dental offices. As a result, we got 12 new full-service marketing clients out the first year. Most of them stayed on with us for over 3 years. Several of the 12 are still with us almost 10 years later.

Once you taste success you don't want to stop... 

My first book did so well, I wrote two more... "12 Ways To Get Your Business Growing Again" and the "48 Hour Author." Both have been successful at helping generate leads and open doors. They have generated over a thousand leads and many new clients.

And my book's impact isn't just financial...

In my case, one day I got a call out of the blue from the University of Florida saying they wanted to use my book as curriculum for the students studying to become dentists.
